The day after sending a newsletter it is good practice to check if any newsletters were
undelivered, so that you can keep your subscribers list up to date. Undelivered newsletters fit
into two categories.
Hard Bounce Backs - where a newsletter is returned because the recipient's address is invalid.
Soft Bounce Backs - where a newsletter gets as far as the recipient's mail server, but is bounced
back before it reaches the recipient. One of the most common causes for a soft bounce is a full
mailbox.
1. Log-in as if you were going to edit your website. But instead of clicking the Homepage Button,
click the E-newsletter Button instead.
2. Click Manage Bounce Backs.
3. Make sure the tick boxes labeled Process Hard Bounces and Process Soft Bounces are checked and
click Download & Process.
4. Click Continue. This will flag all of your contacts with Hard and Soft Bounces. To review them;
5. Click Manage Contacts. To filter your contacts, select Soft Bounces or Hard Bounces and click
Find.
6. Filter Soft Bounces. The general rule is that if a contact Soft Bounces 3-4 times you should
remove them from the list.
7. Filter Hard Bounces. Review each Hard Bounced email address.
If you can see an obvious mistake, you can fix it by clicking the Edit Pencil to the left of the
contact, making the change and clicking Update.
